You're a knight-errant of King Arthur's Round Table in Camelot. You lay down to rest in your journeying, and dreamed yourself here: to the orchard of Dreaming Avalon, the sacred Isle of Apples, the golden summer crown of fairyland.

Or you're a fairy here in the court of Avalon's Twilight Queen, Morgan Le Fay: Goblin-kind or Summer-kind, Elf-kind or a Lily-Nymph, Wild-kind or Fairy Nobility.

What will you do here, fairies and knights together? You'll feast and fête, dance and sport, meet on the field of glory with lance or sword, win or lose your heart — all to while away your dreaming hour.

In Dreaming Avalon

A role-playing party game of Arthurian Knights and Shakespearean Fairies

In Dreaming Avalon is a game for 4–6 players, suitable for roleplayers and non-roleplayers alike. Set aside an hour or more. You'll need a deck of playing cards.

To start the game, choose whether to be a knight or a fairy, and introduce yourself. Are you brash and generous, courteous and passionate, or perhaps impulsive but steadfast? Are you Elfin-kind, mock-prim and mock-solemn, or perhaps Summer-kind, Twilight-kind, or Fairy Nobility? 

Go around the table in rounds. On your turn, choose one of the minigames, and everybody plays:

• A Chance Meeting
• The Fairy Court
• A Feast
• A Hunt
• A Joust
• The Kissing Game
• A Masked Ball
• Meeting Sword to Sword
• Mischief
• The Ogre; or, a Perilous Quest
• Solitaire
• Stealing Time Together
• Waking: the End-Game

Some of the games are one-on-one, with the other players acting as judges or as an audience. Some, everyone plays, or some, you get to choose who plays. Some are funny, some are poignant, some romantic, some dangerous, and they're all quick, charged, punchy, and entertaining.

At last, choose Waking. Each of you gets to bid your goodbye to your new friends and your new enemies, and, waking, leave the beautiful woods of Dreaming Avalon behind.
